Regional Training, Cooperation Key To Survival of Suburban, Rural EMS Corps

Without improved cooperation and mutual training practices, Pennsylvania’s local emergency medical services face a limited future that could have a dramatic effect on taxpayers if municipalities are forced to pay for responders and equipment, Cetronia Ambulance Corps CEO Larry Wiersch said Wednesday.

Speaking to the Executive Forum of the Lehigh Valley, Wiersch sought support for Cetronia’s proposed Joint Operations Center in South Whitehall Township. His appearance is the latest in a series of presentations throughout Lehigh County in recent months as Cetronia embarks on a fund-raising campaign to pay for the $9.5 million facility.

“I welcome the opportunity to appear before a group of business owners from the Lehigh Valley who understand business issues in the Valley,” Wiersch told about 40 Forum members at the Hotel Bethlehem. “What most people don’t understand is that EMS is a business and has to operate like a business.”

The 80,000-square-foot center, slated to be built near the Lehigh County soccer fields on Broadway, would allow Cetronia to centralize its dispatching operations and work more closely with Lehigh County to provide a “medico-legal forensics and education center” that would benefit ambulances corps throughout the region, Wiersch said.

“We get approached by a lot of non-profits for help with fund-raisers and we want to do our best to get the word out for them,” said Executive Forum President and Founder Ken MacKenzie, a financial advisor with Stifel Nicolaus in Bethlehem. “But the more we talked (about scheduling Wiersch’s appearance) the more we realized how important it is to talk about emergency preparation and services in a meeting.”

The Executive Forum of the Lehigh Valley is a dedicated group of business owners and decision-makers who share a commitment to quality and an ethical environment in which to conduct business in Lehigh and Northampton counties and the surrounding region.

It is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2012. To learn more about the Executive Forum, go to http://lvexecutiveforum.org/. To learn more about Cetronia Ambulance, go to www.cetronia.org.

American Red Cross Fundraiser

Team Up WAmerican Red Cross logoith Eagles’ Winston Justice And Score For The American Red Cross!

The Executive Forum of the Lehigh Valley is teaming up with Eagles starting right tackle Winston Justice in a fund-raiser for the American Red Cross of the Lehigh Valley and you can be part of the team!

Justice and his wife, Dania, will serve as Grand Marshals for a three-hour Enduro relay at the Lehigh Valley Grand Prix, the popular indoor cart racing venue in Allentown. The event runs from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 and we are recruiting teams now. This is a great opportunity to support the year-round local relief efforts provided by the American Red Cross in a terrific team-building event guaranteed to provide great fun and memories for your corporate or personal team as you work together to keep the speeds high and lap times low.

This is an ideal way to offer a teambuilding experience for your staff, family or friends, and network with other team members. Each participating team pays an entrance fee of $500 to race. Teams are also encouraged to collect sponsorships that will be used to determine starting pole position for each team. The more sponsorships a team brings in, the better their start position! The team that raises the most will earn the pole position to start the race.

The American Red Cross of the Lehigh Valley serves an estimated 700,000 people in Lehigh, Northampton and Carbon Counties and over the past year it has helped more than 76,000 people through preparedness and training, military personnel support, senior lifesaving programs and services, emergency relief and information and referral.
On average, the American Red Cross responds to one disaster every three days in the greater Lehigh Valley. The majority of those disasters are residential fires and in the past year the chapter responded to 95 disasters that affected 542 adults and children, who received a total of $90,638 in disaster relief assistance.
When a military family needs to reach a loved one serving in the armed forces, the Red Cross makes the connection. Through their Lifeline and I’m Okay programs, seniors can continue to live independently. And, their health and safety classes and emergency preparedness education reach thousands each year.

Space is limited, so don’t wait to contact the American Red Cross to sign up for this exciting event! Call Lissa Rossi at 610-865-4400 ext. 259 or email her at rossil@usa.redcross.org to register.

Won’t you help the Red Cross to continue to provide these important services to the Greater Lehigh Valley?

Executive Forum logoExecutive Forum Of The Lehigh Valley Teams Up With Winston Justice To Score Funds For American Red Cross

Eagles Tackle To Serve As Grand Marshal For LV Grand Prix Enduro

Allentown, Pa. – Eagles starting right tackle Winston Justice will serve as Honorary Grand Marshall for the 2nd Annual Executive Forum of the Lehigh Valley Enduro fund raiser to be held Saturday, April 30 at the Lehigh Valley Grand Prix.

The event, which pits up to a dozen corporate teams against each other in a three-hour marathon at the popular cart-track on S. 10th Street in Allentown, will raise money to help the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley. The inaugural event held in 2010 featured Olympic gold medalist Marty Nothstein and nine teams raised $6,500 for the Red Cross’s Haiti Relief Efforts in the wake of the tragic earthquake that devastated the Caribbean island nation.

This year, all of the funds raised will stay in the Lehigh Valley to help the regional chapter in its ongoing efforts to provide aid to victims of local disasters. Last year the Red Cross helped more than 76,500 people through preparedness and training, military personnel support, senior lifesaving programs and services, emergency relief and information and referral. The Red Cross also provided $90,638 in relief to 542 individuals affected by local tragedies.

Registration is a minimum of $500 per team of five to six riders who will take turns driving the team cart during the three-hour enduro race that begins at 7 p.m. The team that raises the most money earns the pole position for the start of the race and subsequent positions will be based on money raised by each team.

“It’s an honor to be part of two great teams – the Executive Forum of the Lehigh Valley and the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley. They both do terrific work and together they are helping to provide for people who are truly in need,” said Justice, whose humanitarian work has earned accolades since he signed with the Eagles in 2006. “I’ve been to Haiti and I know how much every dollar raised in the United States has helped the people of that nation recover from the earthquake.

“Every year I get to renew my friendship with the Lehigh Valley and its people during training camp so I am really looking forward to teaming up with members of the community for this great local cause.”

Justice will be accompanied by his wife, Dania Justice, said Executive Forum member Luis Campos of Electronic Commerce Inc.

Justice has participated in dozens of charity events on the home field, including St. Jude’s Four Stars of Philly, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Event, The Great Chef Event, MANNA’s Nourish Awards, and the Variety Children Charity’s celebrity bartender event. He has co-hosted The Children’s Hospital Healthy Kids Day Youth Walk, appeared on NBC 10’s Live at Five show, FOX’s Good Day Philadelphia, attended Pop Warner’s Football Awards Luncheon, and attended his first meeting as a board member for the Eagles Fly for Leukemia Charity.

“We are thrilled to welcome Winston Justice to the Lehigh Valley and we deeply appreciate his willingness to take some of his valuable time to help us help others,” said Kenneth MacKenzie, founder and president of the Executive Forum of the Lehigh Valley. “The Executive Forum of the Lehigh Valley is dedicated to providing the tools to help businesses grow and prosper while helping the community at the same time, and with Winston’s support we can help the Red Cross help so many people when they need it most.”
American Red Cross Regional Director John Hughes thanked Justice and the Executive Forum for their support.

“We are very excited that the Executive Forum of the Lehigh Valley is again hosting the American Red Cross Team Building Race to benefit our organization,” stated Regional Executive John R. Hughes. “Last year’s fundraiser at Lehigh Valley Grand Prix was very successful and a lot of fun.”
